San Clemente is home to 11 beaches where you can enjoy a myriad of activities.
Surfing is one of the most popular water sports in the area. Aficionados from all over Orange County and the rest of the US visit San Clemente for its surfing opportunities, particularly on the San Onofre State Beach, San Clemente Pier North, Trestles and T-Street. Trestles is considered a world-class surfing destination, and is the venue of the only ASP World Tour event in North America.
In addition to surfing, other popular water activities in San Clemente beaches include stand up paddleboarding, body boarding, whale watching and swimming.
The beaches are also great places to simply relax. North Beach, Linda Lane, Corto Lane, T-Street, San Clemente State Beach and San Onofre Beach are perfect spots to take the kids, featuring parks, picnic areas, concession stands and other facilities.
The beach at San Clemente Pier is one of the most popular destinations in the city. The pier is home to many shops and restaurants, and offers amazing sunset views. It features a large parking area and is an Amtrak stop.

San Clemente boasts 5 trail systems where you can walk, bike or hike. They wind through the city’s beaches, canyons and ridgelines, providing stunning views of the coast and access to the region’s wildlife reserves. Biking and leashed dogs are allowed on all trails, while horseback riding is restricted to three trails.
The most popular trail is the San Clemente beach trail, which goes through several beaches from San Clemente Beach to North Beach. This trail has an easy terrain, and offers stunning views and access to other trails.

With gorgeous views all around and a diverse terrain, San Clemente is a natural location for top rated golf courses.
The public San Clemente Municipal Golf Club features an 18 hole golf course open to players of all ages. It includes a clubhouse that may also be used as venue for private events and gatherings.
The city is also home to three excellent private golf clubs, the Bella Collina Towne & Golf Club, the Shorecliffs Golf Club and the Talega Golf Club.
- Shop (and dine) ’til you drop
Downtown San Clemente’s Avenida del Mar is home to charming boutiques that offer a wide array of merchandise, from clothing and fashion accessories to artworks, antiques and décor to surfboards and other sports equipment. The retail strip is home to several restaurants as well, offering a wide range of cuisines.
Avenida del Mar is also the site of the Sunday farmer’s market, where you can get fresh organic fruits and vegetables, as well as fresh plants and flowers, baked goodies and more.
Bargain hunters will enjoy Outlets at San Clemente at W. Avenida Vista Hermosa, a village style shopping center with a Spanish Colonial theme. It houses outlet stores of some of the top brands in the world, as well as restaurants, fast food chains and coffee shops.
